With travelling so much August was a light reading month with only two books read. The good news is I already have two finished for September and have a third almost finished, so I may be getting back on track with my reading. It helps staying in a place more than two nights and actually settling in and not having to rush about. Without further ado...

I really enjoyed TTMC, but I will warn you, there are SO MANY CHARACTERS that it gets a little confusing at times. And some of the characters have the same first name, which I cannot fathom there being a good reason for and I would like to speak with this man's editor about it.
Buuut - I still *really* liked this book. It's about a group of people in their seventies who live in a retirement community who are trying to solve a murder that happened on the premises. Don't worry, it's not one of the olds that got murdered.
It was just kind of delightful following these septuagenarians around while they try and figure out this murder.

I also enjoyed Ties That Tether. This book follows Azere, a woman who at twelve emigrated to Canada from Nigeria with her mother and sister after her father's death. On his deathbed she promises him that she will marry a Nigerian man, and well, this promise is the antagonist in this story.
Azere struggles to keep her promise to her father - which her mother continually reminds her of and keeps setting her up on dates with Nigerian men - while she's fallen in love with a man who does not fit the protocol.
It's a story about love, family ties, cultural demands, and figuring out happiness when all of these things collide.
